In 2008, our lives were turned upside down when our son fell into addiction, a crisis that sent shockwaves through our entire family.
But in the midst of the pain, we found hope at a Christ-centered treatment center, one that not only helped restore our son but also sparked healing throughout our entire family.
The experience was life-changing, but the high cost of quality care opened our eyes to a heartbreaking reality: many families simply can’t afford the help they desperately need. Through a series of powerful “God moments,” we felt called to do something—and Ashes to Glory Foundation was born.

What exactly is Ashes to Glory Foundation?
Ashes to Glory Foundation is a faith-based nonprofit organization that provides financial assistance to individuals and families who cannot afford high-quality treatment for addiction and the lasting effects of trauma.
Addiction and trauma can create a devastating crisis—especially for families without the financial means to access the Christ-centered, clinically sound care their loved ones need. As treatment costs continue to rise and insurance coverage remains limited, many are left facing an impossible choice: go into financial ruin or watch someone they love continue to suffer.
Ashes to Glory Foundation exists to fund that gap.

Where is your treatment center?
We’re not a treatment center ourselves. Instead, we provide financial support—like scholarships—for families to access premium, Christ-centered addiction and trauma recovery programs across the country that meet strict criteria:

What kind of addictions do you help?
We support treatment for a wide range of addictions, including drugs, alcohol, pornography, sexual addiction, gaming, and eating disorders—along with the trauma that often lies beneath them.
In many cases, the addiction a family sees is just the tip of the iceberg. That’s why we partner with Christ-centered, clinically sound treatment centers equipped to diagnose and treat multiple, co-occurring issues.
Why do you prefer to help with residential treatment that is at least 90 days?
Thirty days may clear substances from the body, but it doesn’t provide enough time to address the deeper issues driving addiction. In fact, around the 30–40 day mark, individuals are often most vulnerable—detox is done, but true healing has just begun.
Recovery takes time. Studies show that the longer someone stays in treatment, the better their chances of lasting sobriety. At 90 days, success rates more than double compared to shorter stays.
That’s why we prioritize programs with at least 90 days of Christ-centered, clinically effective care—because lasting healing doesn’t happen overnight.

How do you screen applicants when the need is greater than the available funding?
At Ashes to Glory Foundation, we prayerfully and carefully consider each scholarship application to ensure every donor dollar supports those with genuine need and readiness for change.
Applicants submit a detailed online form with personal, spiritual, and extensive financial details. We then conduct a phone call with the family.
We base decisions on two key factors:

Strong Support System – Lasting recovery requires ongoing support from family, church, or community.
Our goal is to steward every donation with wisdom and integrity—supporting those best positioned for long-term, Christ-centered transformation.
Why is this type of treatment so expensive?
Christ-centered, clinically effective addiction treatment is costly because it provides intensive, personalized care that addresses the whole person—and the entire family.
The programs we support employ full-time, licensed counselors with specialized training in addiction, trauma, and family systems. These professionals maintain a low client-to-counselor ratio, allowing them to invest deeply in each individual’s recovery—not just during formal counseling sessions, but also through everyday activities like meals, recreation, and work projects. Healing often happens in the quiet moments, not just in the therapy room.
In addition to counseling, these programs include a minimum 90-day residential stay, completely removing individuals from their everyday environment. This extended, immersive setting is crucial for lasting transformation.
Importantly, the programs we support go beyond treating one person—they include intensive family involvement, focusing on family restoration, not just individual recovery.
This level of personalized, Christ-centered care is rare—and worth the investment.
Why do you often refer to Ashes to Glory Foundation as serving the mission field in our own backyards?
Addiction and the effects of trauma are exploding in our country, leaving no one immune. The situation hits stable and unstable families, Christian and non-Christian families, home school and public and private school families, local and missionary families, rural and city families, and rich and poor families; all are dealing with addictions. In fact:

- 29% of all U.S. families (1 in 4) have someone impacted by addiction.
- Drug overdoses are among the leading causes of death among Americans under 50
- 69% of American men and 40% of American women (3 in 5 adults total) report pornography consumption.
- 67% of U.S. pastors have a personal history of pornography use, with nearly one in five (18%) currently struggling with it.
- 36% of children in the U.S. foster care system are there due to addiction.
Addiction is not an “out there” issue. The question is not whether you will encounter someone struggling with addiction, but how will you respond when you do? It is time we started fighting the battle at our doorstep, in our pews, and in our homes.
We wish we could share all the stories from the families that have been helped. Lives have been redeemed through Christ! In cases where the individual does not experience salvation, the individual is in a much better place following treatment to allow God to work through him or her in the coming years.
What is one of the things that would surprise supporters the most if they could hear all the personal stories?
The stories of families and marriages restored and the types of families we have helped! Even when it is a teenage child getting help, the quality programs provide the entire family with intense counseling. I often hear, “not only is our child doing so much better, but our marriage has been restored. It saved our marriage!”
